“Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6

What does this tell us about Jesus?
He is the only way to the Father. He loved His Father very much. Jesus spent a lot of time praying, listening and talking with His Father. You spend a lot of time with your friends and family. You spend time with them because you love them. Jesus is the truth. He is the Word of God. God’s Word is true. If you want to have life with God, you can know the Father through the Son. Glance through the book of John and see how often Jesus spoke of and to His Father. He was a joyfully obedient Son, focused on pleasing and glorifying His heavenly Father. He even taught us to pray to our Father in Matthew 6:9. Our sin and all the bad separates us from this sinless, holy God who cannot be around sin. But Jesus came, God from heaven, to earth, born as a man and lived a perfect life – not sinning once. He did His Father’s will and obeyed His Father. Then Jesus showed His love for us by taking the punishment we deserved – separation from God – and died in our place on that cross. But the good news is that He didn’t stay dead – He rose again in 3 days and now sits at the right hand of His Father in Heaven.
Reflection: What can we do? What makes God happy? What does He want from us?
When we repent of our sins, the means agree that we have sinned, confess and say “I’m so sorry” to God, trust Jesus’ work on the cross, believe what He did for us, and ask His help to live and obey the way He wants us to, He’s in control, not us. We no longer are in control of our lives, we want Him to be in control. Life works better when we do it His way. Then, we can know God and know that we will have life with Him forever!
